Buffalo Pitts Artifacts, Chromolithograph Catalogs & Foundry Memorabilia
Because the Buffalo Pitts Company marketed its machinery across the United States, Canada, South America, and Europe during the peak of Victorian chromolithography, its surviving paper ephemera and cast-iron hardware are highly prized by agricultural and industrial museums.
1. Chromolithographed Catalogs & Trade Cards (Courier Litho Co., Buffalo)
Many of Buffalo Pitts' annual catalogs were printed in Buffalo by the Courier Lithographing Company and Matthews-Northrup Works, featuring rich full-color stone lithographs of the American pan-bison ('Buffalo') trademark alongside detailed cutaway engravings of Niagara threshers and double-cylinder traction engines.
2. Cast-Iron Smokebox Doors, Brass Steam Gauges & Watch Fobs
Authentic hardware artifacts include custom-dial Ashcroft and Crosby brass steam pressure gauges marked 'Buffalo Pitts Co.,' enameled Watch Fobs distributed at state fairs, and cast-iron toolboxes embossed with the Pitts script logo.
