ARCHIVING IMAGES, ARTIFACTS AND DOCUMENTS

   WITH MUSEUMS, SOCIETIES & ASSOCIATIONS

 

There are many historical societies and associations that have extensive archives featuring Buffalo Pitts and other brands of steam traction engines and gasoline/kerosene tractors, as well as farm implements, construction equipment & machinery and so forth. 

 

These include: The Historical Construction Equipment Association; The Henry Ford Museum (Henry Ford was a long-time advocate for the farmer); University of California; and many more.  Links to some of these and other historical organizations are contained in the "Links" section of this web site. 

 

Please help these organizations preserve our past for future generations.  Please donate historical artifacts and documents to these organizations.  Also, please become a member of the organizations that are most closely associated with your interests.  Finally, please donate time and money whenever possible, so that their good work can continue.

Thresher Photos

We have received some new photos of an 1899 Buffalo Pitts Thresher in action in Australia.  Click HERE to go to that page.

BLACKHAWK FILMS OF DAVENPORT, IOWA

These photos at the right are from a 1961 set of color slides distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa.  They were not copyrighted at the time of distribution.  Further, the copyrights on later slides that were copyrighted by Blackhawk Films were sold.  Subsequently the new copyright owner died and the copyrights for all slide images were abandoned.  Therefore, all Blackhawk Films slide images are now considered to be in the "public domain." 

There were over 60 images in the #190 and #268 slide sets distributed by Blackhawk Films that featured gas and steam-engined tractors photographed in 1961.  These three photos at the right are the only ones featuring a Buffalo Pitts steam traction engine (a.k.a. steam tractors).  The webmaster has had all 60+  slides converted to digital images, including color correction.  This was performed in June 2010 by ScanCafe.com. 

The digital images will be donated to various archival societies.
